While most children have at least another month left of Summer vacation, Hailey starts 8th grade tomorrow. Why, you ask? Well Hailey’s middle school is year round and they start on July 24th. I still can’t believe my oldest is starting 8th grade, she is growing up so fast and such an important time in her life right now. She is 13 years old and at that age of being a teenager in a world of critics telling her positive and negative things. Here’s how other people are setting goals.

I am a goal setting type of person. I love to set goals for myself, my family, my blog & my shop, like here’s my goals for 2017. But the perfect way to set goals is to have a visual of them. If you take the time out to set goals for yourself weekly or monthly, you have a better chance of them getting done. To make this easy for Hailey, we’re gonna do this as weekly goals, small simple goals makes it easier for you to achieve them and not get discouraged.

So over the weekend before school, we took a trip to Walmart to get some supplies for school. Walmart was pretty crazy with school supplies everywhere, so first we found the Thermal Laminator which happen to have a rollback price. (score!) we also ordered some Thermal Laminating Pouches.

Next finding what colors of the Post It 3×3 Popup Notes we wanted to get, there was a pretty huge collection of colors. We went with the Post-it Notes Cube Mixed Case 3x3Pink and Orange 400 Sheets. Then we ran over to the school supplies to grab Scotch Magic Tape and Refill Rolls. This is great to have around the house.

Here’s what you will need to make your own DIY Goals Board:

Open the Scotch Thermal Laminator and get your regular computer paper and insert into the laminated paper pouches. Turn it on and put it into place and click 3 ml or 5 ml and it will push itself through. Once that step is done, this part is up to you.

You can use a sharpie or dry erase markers to decorate the sheet. After that simply add goals onto the 3″ x 3″ Post-it® Notes and wa-la! Once you’re done, clip it to the clipboard and stick it on your desk or wall.

You can also attach a 4×6 or 5×7 laminated pouches with Scotch Magic Tape to the inside of your child’s notebook. That way they can change out their goals out daily.

It’s going to be easy to keep track of your goals for each week and it will be easy to change out every week. We will also be making one for inspiring quotes to inspire her to do her best during 8th grade this year. Here’s a great video showing how important it is to reach for your goals, no matter how big or small they may be.
