So my friend and I work at a cafe that sells wine & beer. So we have bottles we’re tossing out on the daily. We thought, why waste them when there’s endless of DIY projects for bottles. So our first project was to make some beer bottle tiki torches. We made these just to sit on a table or porch. But honestly, you can get then hanging or on poles, the ideas are endless.

WHAT YOU NEED – beer bottle tiki torches:

  •  Empty and clean bottle
  • Tiki Torch wick refill
  • Tiki Torch citronella lamp oil
  • Funnel
  • small rocks

1. Fill the bottle with rocks, this part is optional if you don’t have any rocks on hand, I found some on Amazon – a two pound bag for $12.99. We had some on hand, that were in the driveway.

2. Using a funnel, fill the bottle with Tiki Torch Oil. We filled it up about half way up the neck of the bottle. Before you add the torch oil, be sure you measure the wick in the bottle.

3. Fit your wick into the center of the 3/8 washer, so about 1/4″ is sticking out of the top.

4. Place the long side of the wick into the bottle, the weight of the wick & washer will hold it into place on the top of the bottle.

And that my friends is how you make a tiki torch out of beer bottles. Now you can totally do this with wine bottles or liquor bottles. Honestly any type of glass bottle will work. While looking on Amazon, I found these wicks & brass mounts that screw into the top of the wine bottles to replace the 3/8 washers for beer bottles. We  grabbed two wine bottles from work, I am totally gonna try these with. I’ll post an update when I get that done.

  1. These are really cool for the warmer weather and these are fun to make. I have never made a Tiki torches! What a fun thing to make. Thanks for the idea!

  2. Aren’t you resourceful. This is so neat and this is the time of year that we would get a lot of use out of these.

  3. What a cute idea! We have curbside recycling but they do not pick up glass, so we collect it to drop off on our own. At least this is something cute we can do with some of our excess bottles.

  4. I don’t drink beer, but this is a great idea! It would probably work with glass pop bottles as well!
